The working principle is identical; the difference is the set-point range and the materials. Gas switches use gas-compatible diaphragms and cover higher pressures, while air switches are built for the very low mbar range a combustion-air fan produces. They are not interchangeable, and fitting an air switch to a gas line is a common and serious commissioning error.
